Place a signature on your artwork without competing with the image
Test position, scale and contrast before making a permanent mark.

A signature can identify your own artwork, but its placement also changes what the viewer notices. Before signing a finished piece, decide what you want to include: a name, initials or another identifier you actually use. A date can be useful, though it need not occupy the front of every work.
A closer look
Treat the signature as one more visible element
Write a few versions at the intended size on separate paper. Place a trial beside or over the proposed area without attaching it to a delicate surface. Compare it from normal viewing distance. Check whether the signature interrupts a shape, becomes the strongest contrast or disappears against the background.
Consider the whole presentation. A frame or mount may cover an edge, while a digital crop may remove information placed too close to it. Test the planned view before choosing the position. Use materials suitable for the actual artwork, checking their instructions rather than guessing that any pen will behave well.

A meaning to make your own
A thought to give
For someone finishing a personal artwork, a 美 gift can acknowledge that careful attention. Choose clothing around their usual preferences rather than treating an artist identity as a particular uniform.

Must the signature be in a bottom corner?
No universal position is necessary for this exercise. Compare options that suit your own composition and presentation. If you are working to someone else's specifications, check those before making a permanent change.
A character to carry with you 美
美 means beauty. Here it connects with judging a relationship between details: the picture, the surrounding space and one small mark that should belong to the whole.
